Can't argue with that Tim. Agree to agree.

However, a sound gounding in basic flight planning is essential especially in areas where you're likely to encounter airspace. However the march towards more reliance on technology for navigation doesn't come without its pitfalls, both for us free-flyers (as we have seen on a number of occasions) and with road navigation satnavs. You'd be mad to blindly follow your satnav to a new destination without looking at the overall route first, just as you'd be mad to take off from a hill in an unfamiliar area without visualising the airspace downwind beforehand. So the lesson clearly must be that if you are relying on XCSoar, FlySkyHy, your Flymaster or whatever for navigation, you must be 100% proficient in how it works, and 100% confident in its reliability too.And perhaps brush up on your map reading skills (and carry a map in an accessible place) just in case it all goes tits up :-)CheersTim

We fought hard for the position we are in now and must do everything to maintain or enhance it.
This includes staying out of airspace. The means is not as important as the end, but we do need to coach all the different ways of airspace avoidance.
The radio will require an FRTOL, and will not open up much airspace. I've got a radio and an FRTOL, but it does not, IMO, help me for PG.
Agree to disagree it is.

Get a registration, get a radio, learn to map read and navigate properly and be a real pilot!
So at a time when the rest of aviation is moving to less regulation you're suggesting more for us... I'm sure that will go down a storm...
It's probably time to just agree to disagree.
Cheers
