I'm arriving at Pewsey at 8:30 and will be walking to Milk Hill, so if anyone's passing round then I could do with a lift. [TVHGC Members] Liddington Castle parking

Members, we've noticed the last few days that at Liddington Castle pilots have been parking cars in the access to the field next to the hill. Please don't park there as we've not got permission to do so. The parking for Liddy is on the road at the base of the hill. Also please make sure you put the chain back round the gate. Many thanks.

[TVHGC Members] Mercury Restrictions

Dear All

 

Please see message below from Sky Surfers Site Officer regarding Mercury closures and restrictions.

 

If you plan on flying there, maybe email me first and I can pass on any closure dates when they are announced.

 

 

 

Folks, please be advised of certain restrictions when flying Mercury during the coming weeks:

 

 

1). SITE CLOSURE

The site will be closed for several days during the next week or so. This is because the top area is being allowed to grow for hay. There will come a point when the farmer will not want us in the field at all, crushing the grass. Please keep a close eye on this Group and Facebook etc. for further details. As always, the Daily Check is _vital_. Once the grass is cut and baled, we should be back to normal.

 

2). NO BOTTOM LANDINGS

The crops in the fields below are now at a stage where we not allowed to land in any of them. Until further notice there is _no_ bottom landing. Please do not launch unless you can confidently land back on the top/slope. (This restriction will be lifted once a field has been cut – probably late August.)

 

PG pilots have the luxury of two other east-facing slopes available.

For information in an easterly we have limited options in Thames Valley.  Many pilots in easterlies head to Wales for sites like Pandy (need to be a member of South East Wales Club) or Malverns, Pinnacle Hill/Kettle Sings  (need to be a member of the Malvern club or have a helmet sticker) or stay local in Hampshire.  However Pandy and Malvern have restrictions on the very low air time pilot for obvious reasons so no really an option until you get some flying in first.
