[TVHGC Members] 2016 TVHGC Sites Competition

Apologies to Facebook readers who have seen this; for non-Facebookers please read on!

Thanks to the overwhelmingly positive response to the recent survey, the TVHGC Sites Competition is back! I have paid close attention to all the points raised in the survey and have implemented as many as I can. The only point that I have gone against public opinion with is changing the waypoints; most respondents wanted a mixture of last year’s waypoints and some new ones, but I’ve decided to keep it simple and leave it exactly as it was last y
ear. It wasn’t broken, so I haven’t fixed it!

The big change for 2016 is that Lee Bligh, CFI of Cloudbase Paragliding,http://www.cloudbaseparagliding.com/ has kindly sponsored the event to the tune of over £300 worth of kit! Great news! The way it will work is that prizes will be “hidden” in 5 of the 61 waypoints. The first pilot to reach one of those waypoints will win a prize. They will be notified as soon as their flight has been checked and prizes will be handed out at the AGM in Nov/Dec. There will also be prizes, as last year, for most waypoints bagged in various categories. So, which waypoints to aim for?! All I can say is that they will be available to everyone, so will be accessible from sites open to CP rated pilots and they won’t be the really hard waypoints – you’ve all got a good chance of winning!

Three points from the survey:

1. The competition IS open to CP rated pilots!
2. You don’t need the latest GPS; a smart phone or basic GPS will suffice.
3. I will be offering training in how to load waypoints into Garmin and Kobo devices at an upcoming social evening (date tbd). Help with other devices will depend on other knowledgeable people coming along. I will also do ad hoc on-the-hill training for anyone who wants it.

See attached pdf and http://www.tvhgc.co.uk/index.php/competitions for more details.

Good luck!
