Hi Chris I thought you might be interested... We're just getting ready to announce all the details of next year's GIN Wide Open. Saint Jean Montclar (French Alps) 18-25 June 2016 The Venue We've chosen Saint Jean Montclar for its reliable weather. It's particularly sheltered from the Mistral which can plague flying sites like Laragne further west. From campsite to appartments everything is also very centrally located. I met the mayor of Saint Jean earlier in the summer. He is very keen to welcome us and we've even organised for the chairlift to be opened especially for us - yes - whisked from the village centre up to launch with our own private chairlift! The flying has a great mix of big mountain flying behind launch and more open terrain out front with lots of land-out options. No marquee this year: we've got a big indoor hall more than big enough for presentations and more. Registration Registration will open on 26 December as every year, but there'll be a big difference this time: no more unfair advantage to the high speed internet surfers. Because our servers were pretty much overloaded with the competition filling within an hour last year, we've decided to give everyone as fair a chance as possible. Registration will stay open for one whole week. So you'll have until January 2nd, but remember, on January 2nd the gates will close. Shortly thereafter, (all being well on January 3rd) we'll let you know if you've been selected or not. Good luck! We're still building this year's website but all the details should be on line by next weekend. I'll email you again once it's up and running.
In the meantime, please spread the word, and keep updated on the GIN Wide Open Facebook site here All the best Toby Colombé GIN Wide Open organiser |
