10km to the west of Avoriaz there is a take off overlooking Geneva, Saleve Mountain, http://paraglidingearth.com/pgearth/index.php?site=3023. Not flown it myself but it is a popular site so there is sure to be a club based there. There is a cable car to the take off as it is a ski slope so access is easy and there is a bottom landing.

If you have a car then 50 km to the south, of course, is Annecy. If you go there check out the bottom landing first at Bout de Lac (near Dousard) and you will get all the info you need. If you want a guide to Annecy and Alpine sites/flying generally you might ask Irwin at Maison Du Moulin http://www.maison-du-moulin.co.uk/
Annecy is one of the best places to initiate alpine flying and Irwin is one of the best guides IMO.

Best regardsStephen--A quick reminder that the Gin Wide Open 2016 registration opens at 1pm today, but there is no rush like last year as it closes on 2 Jan with no advantage given to early registrations. I can't go this year, but hopefully plenty of TVHGC pilots will be there, as last year (38!). If you're not sure whether this sort of comp is for you then use the forums to ask or come along to the social meetings and talk about it. For me, it was my first comp outside UK and I loved it!
