I have just submitted my email and received this automatic reply back:

-- Thank you for responding to the Additional Consultation. Consultation runs from 10th August to 5th October. All responses will be analysed after closure and results published in Feedback Report C in due course. Please monitor www.consultation.tagfarnborough.com
The deadline is has definitely been extended to 2nd Nov so don't be alarmed...
I've copied my email below, but for obvious reasons please don't copy it verbatim:
To whom it concerns...
I am writing to object most strongly to your proposed airspace changes which will see a significant part of the airspace I fly through (I'm a paraglider pilot) en route to the south coast have its lower limit reduced from 5500' to 4500'. I have flown through this area on four occasions this year, and on the two occasions in August when cloudbase was at approx 5500' having to stay below 4500' for an extended period of time would have made the flight very difficult if not impossible. On the earlier two flights cloudbase was at about 4700-4800' so having to stay below 4500' would have still made the flight harder to do.
Of course, not only would it make our cross-country flights harder, it also has the effect of squashing all the traffic in an already busy stretch of airspace into a smaller volume, thus decreasing safety, and all this for a very modest increase in your "average per hour weekday" number of flights.
The screenshot below shows just how important this route is in a NW'ly wind, with paraglider pilots launching from Selsley Common near Stroud, Liddington near Swindon, and Combe Gibbet near Marlborough, all converging in the pinchpoint to the east of Southampton airspace.
I cannot see that there is any justification for such an extensive airspace grab, hence my objection.
Yours sincerely

All,I appreciate that this is clogging inboxes but it is important.
I intend to lead on the class g squeeze and that the reduction to 4500 ft is an effective closure of this route for all our members.
Could someone please put an effective and eloquent email together explaining that if this were a footpath on the ground it would not be so easy to shut. We have a right to roam that a few privileged people in bizjets should not take away for the sake of a more mellow descent or 2 mins less in the air!
Thanks,Nick
Sent from my iPhoneFarnborough just won't go away quietly will it. I would love to know what (and who's) set of values leads them to think that this level of airspace grab is in any way justified. They want to be 'London Farnborough'... so let them join LAMP instead of setting themselves apart as some kind of special case. Dark (ie wealthy) forces are still afoot I suspect.

Thanks for the link Nick. He had his hands everywhere to keep the glider above his head I think. It looks exaggerated because the brake lines are not routed through the pulleys.
The major error here of course was to take off, but he is one of the best acro pilots in the world, so perhaps he can get away with things the rest of us can't…

Dear all,
Firstly a short clip from youtube for you http://youtu.be/2a0hoBAYK3M . While this chap may have had his hands all over the place during and after launch he did the right thing after getting this full frontal and allowed the wing to recover and fly him away from the hill. He was also lucky to get no rotation. I had an asymmetric on full speedbar (proper pulley to pulley) which rotated me through 180 degrees while in Spain the other week. My SIV training in 2014 helped with my initial and follow up actions and I'm now booked in for another SIV course early next year. If anyone is interested in joining me on the course just let me know (it's fun, honest!).Now, down to business…. FARNBOROUGH UPDATE
Act now to do your part in ensuring Farnborough don't stop us XC flying to the South Coast!!! Please, please write to them and tell them what you think of their proposals, whether your approach is well reasoned, emotional or just a plain rant let them know what you think. Every e-mail they receive will count in our favour, the closing date for your comments is 2 Nov. Use the format:

I will be making a comment on behalf of the Club but I would value your input so please do call for a chat or e-mail me atsafety@tvhgc.co.uk .
The BHPA have sent this out, please read as much as you can in order to understand the issues:
TAG are still looking for considerable controlled airspace (CAS) around Farnborough. Their first consultation document (03Feb2014) and its two associated reports (29Aug2014 and 03Jul2015) have been joined by another consultation document. All four can be found onThis latest consultation closes on 02Nov2106, whether you responded to the previous consultation or not please consider doing so to this one.An interesting study into the July 2015 proposal submitted by TAG to the CAA was carried out by FASVIG, whilst it doesn't mention our activities it details some interesting aspects on TAG's proposals. It can be found atThe BHPA will be responding again to TAG pretty much along the same lines as in 2014:
- The CAS will be effectively closed to us thus limiting our flying
- There is a complete lack of an assessment as to the implications for those aircraft that will be displaced from the proposed airspace
- The number of aircraft remaining out of the CAS will increase collision risks for all in the surrounding Class G airspace
- TAG's own figures talk of an "average per hour weekday" of currently 1.13 flights and 1.56 in 2019. This amount of CAS for so few movements is obscene and risks setting a precedent for other CAS applications
- TAG's proposals should be integrated into the SE England CAS project (called LAMP), not tagged on afterwards
Many thanks, and I look forward to seeing you at the Swan next Wednesday (5 Oct).Cheers,Nick--
